Most Influential People in Our Running Community
Every year in March, the Virginia Beach oceanfront is taken over by runners by the thousands for the annual Yuengling Shamrock Weekend. Last year, several athletes traveled East from Colorado and gave some tremendous appearances on our fast and flat course.
Joanna Zeiger, Bolder, CO – 1st place overall female
Mario Macias, Steamboat Springs, CO – 2nd overall male
I was thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to meet both of them. They both have been extremely influential and inspirational in my running.
It is no surprise that Colorado is a mecca for runners like Joanna and Mario. The the city of Bolder is filled with runners of all levels. With over 200 miles of trails, this is a runner’s paradise. A couple of weeks ago, a list of the 25 Most Influential People in Colorado Running hit the internet. Many of the names were familiar ones ranging from Elite Marathoner and Oiselle spokesperson Kara Goucher to Cliff Bosley race director of the popular Bolder Boulder 10K.
When I read this list, I couldn’t help but to start making one on my own of those individuals who are the most influential in our own local running community.
