Tips For A Good Spin Class

It was a “light” training week this week on my 1/2 marathon plan which freed me up for some other workouts I have been wanting to try. One of the classes I popped into was a spin class at a new spin studio in my neighborhood. I have always liked these type of classes. They are intense, high calorie burners, and kick my butt. Running is one thing, but pedaling on a spin bike with increasing resistance is challenging for me. The music in these type of classes is usually pretty good. But I think the key to any great class is the instructor.

Classes that are 30 minutes – 1 hour can burn anywhere from 500-1000 calories

With good music and a great instructor the class can fly by

You can control the intensity of the workout by adjusting the resistance on the bike

Spinning is low impact of your feet and knees

Bring a water bottle, it is HOT and you will need it!!!

Ask the instructor or another rider to help you adjust your bike properly

Use the complimentary towel, you will be dripping sweat

Wear pants or compression shorts, loose shorts will bunch up and be uncomfortable
