A Few Nutrition, Beauty, and Fitness Picks To Kickstart 2018

Sure sure, it is the time of year for resolutions. As mentioned earlier this week…I am more interested in serving my own needs. From beauty, to the kitchen, and of course fitness I have decluttered my collection and downsized my list of essentials.  I am loving these new finds so much, that I am using most of them DAILY!

Let’s start with the morning. No matter what time of year it is or what the temp outside is, as soon as my feet hit the floor I am en route for a hot liquid. Usually it is a black coffee from my french press. But since acquiring a Vitamix, my morning routine has gotten an upgrade. I still go for my 2 black cups of coffee, but first I am alternating between hot lemon water (more on that later) or a turmeric latte. Combine all ingredients in Vitamix, blast on high til warm! Anti-inflammatory, golden, and delicious! You are welcome.

Now back to that lemon water. Other than being a mood lifter, natural slimming agent, and full of Vitamin C, it can seem a bit lack luster. It is not really the water I am obsessed with as much as the lemon. I saw a tip on social media somewhere about freezing lemons before grating them. Hello game changer! This past week I have made lemon water by grating the lemons I keep in Ziploc bags in my freezer. My lemon water is so much brighter. I am able to get the benefits of the entire lemon, including the peel by freezing first.

Now that I am awake, I am ready for a workout. But the below freezing temps in VA are completely un-motivating. It can be hard to get outside. Watching the Today Show on New Year’s Day, I was reminded of the benefits and convenience of the jump rope. I pulled mine out of the closet and by mid day, I had it back in circulation. Check out this jumprope circuit you can do anywhere.

Now that you’ve nourished your insides, take a little time to pamper the outside. Holiday eating, drinking, and outdoor elements took a toll on my skin. I came across this clay mask from Philosophy to help exfoliate and clear away black heads. I have used it twice over the past week as instructed, and I am very pleased with my results. It perfectly shed any flakiness or dullness from my face. I am happy to welcome the newest member of my skin care routine to the family!

This next purchase was kind of on a whim, but it turns out I was on to something. Every time I wear it I get compliments on my makeup. So for under $30, I would say this French Melon Olio E Osso shade was totally worth it. Don’t let the bright pink color fool you. The sheer stick adds a perked up, flushed face glow to face and lips while hydrating. It also made the goop list.  So if it is good enough for Gwyneth, it is good enough for me!
